consequence: noun; A result or effect, typically one that is unwelcome or unpleasant.; Example: First of all, those who enjoy such films eventually stop associating the violence with any real consequences.
emphasize: verb; Give special importance or value to (something) in speaking or writing.; Example: Films could emphasize the tragic consequences of violent acts and this would educate people.
entertaining: adjective; Providing amusement or enjoyment.; Example: Such films make violence appear entertaining, exciting and even something to be copied.
eventually: adverb; In the end, especially after a long delay, dispute, or series of problems.; Example: First of all, those who enjoy such films eventually stop associating the violence with any real consequences.
film industry: noun phrase; The area of commercial activity concerned with the production and distribution of films.; Example: The government should regulate the film industry on the one hand, and provide better education on the other.
increasingly: adverb; To an increasing extent; more and more.; Example: However, it seems to be increasingly clear that this development is causing problems in our society.
producer: noun; A person responsible for the financial and managerial aspects of the making of a film or broadcast or for staging a play, opera, etc.; Example: Producers must be prevented from showing meaningless violence as 'fun' in their films.
regulate: verb; Control or maintain the rate or speed of (a machine or process) so that it operates properly.; Example: The government should regulate the film industry on the one hand, and provide better education on the other.
social problem: noun phrase; A social problem is any condition or behavior that has negative consequences for large numbers of people and that is generally recognized as a condition or behavior that needs to be addressed.; Example: I think that viewing violence as entertainment may indeed cause serious social problems.
tragic consequence: noun phrase; Of, relating to, or characteristic of tragedy.; Example: Films could emphasise the tragic consequences of violent acts and this would educate people.
violence: noun; Behaviour involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something.; Example: The increasing amount of violence that is shown regularly in films has been a cause of concern for some time.
violent acts: noun phrase; An act of violence, force or threat means any act that involves violence, force, or threat.; Example: Films could emphasise the tragic consequences of violent acts and this would educate people.
